Building my new i7 (1366 socket) PC Specs: Motherboard: Asus P6X58D Premium CPU: Intel i7-920 PSU: Corsair TX750W Memory: Corsair Dominator DDR3 (3 X 2GB) GPU: EVGA GTX 260 HDD: WD Caviar Black OS: Windows 7 Ultimate & Ubuntu I originally purchased a Sapphire Radeon HD 5770 video card, but the video card driver kept rebooting every half hour or so. Even with the latest drivers (both for Win 7 and the video card) it wouldn’t let up. So, I RMA’d the video card and bought an Nvidia GTX 260 card. So far the Nvidia card is working out much better than the Radeon. The only thing left to do to this system (hardware related) is install the hyper 212 plus CPU cooler that is coming in the mail. Disclaimer for Apple fanboys: I love macs…really, I do, but the mac pro is way too expensive for what I need, and the imacs are not very expandable (also, I’m not a fan of “all-in-ones”). For 3DS Max, Corel Painter, Photoshop, and gaming this machine is a good fit. If Apple made a mid-sized tower with similar hardware I’d buy it in a heartbeat, but they don’t. If Apple offered OS X for a machine like this one, I’d definitely install it, but they don’t. So, the machine that I need just doesn’t fall into Apple’s current lineup.

@nosaltadded So you’ve added a comment of zero value…now what? Guess it’s time to traverse Youtube posting negative comments at every opportunity.

So you built a computer and it didn’t work. Did your mother have any children that lived?

@myiphoneadventure 750 watt is overkill for this card, you should’ve get HD 5970 in crossfire.

@BKsMassive Ehhh, I7 aren’t really neccessary for current gaming, but they’re faster for video encoding, for gaming AMD is enough but intel is for people who make 3d models and need their cpus to at least 5.2 GHZ.

This one has Sata 3 and USB 3.0 and it’s a great overclocker, so it’s personal taste really.

@XanderCallahan Thanks…that was profound. If you read the other comments or even the description you would have discovered that an after market cooler was installed shortly after this video was made. re

@Eric714 Cool! Have fun. Can’t say I’ve turned it into a hackintosh yet; I already have two macs in the house at the moment. It sure would make for an awesome mac, though.

DUDE! I was just about to buy the same system… uncanny: mobo, CPU (actually 930), and RAM. I already have the HAF 922 case, Corsair 750 PSU, and a MSI 260GTX video card.
I was in my cart at Newegg, when I found your video. It made me pull the trigger. I am pumped!
Have you turned this into a hackintosh yet? I would love to hear!
Thanks for posting this video.

Great build, but You should up grade the HDD (use the HDD for storage) to 2 40GB SSD’s and run it in RAID then that system will be blazing, but that would be like another 200 bucks or more.

@BKsMassive ati is cheaper but is nearly as fast and can run eyefinity on 1 card where gtx needs 2. they have there ups and downs so all brands are basicly just as good as good as eahother interms of performance and price. you get what u pay for so no one fails dumbass. ur just an amd/ati fanboy who dont know sh*T!
#14 written by jamesrogers93 August 6th, 2010 at 06:08
@BKsMassive although intel is more expensive than amd intel performs better and thats a fact. like i said they all have there ups and downs AMD = cheap for the performance it gives you. intel is more expensive and performs alot better and it uses newer technology. GTX 480 is built to withstand the heat it produces and performs better than the ati 5870 by just a little. it is 3d ready and has physx and cuda.
#15 written by BKsMassive August 6th, 2010 at 07:03
@jamesrogers93
NO. you loose!
AMD has 90% of the power of intel CPUs but at 1/3 of the price!
intel fail.
and dont even start on a 4** series. ¬¬
the GTX480 is at 73C idle.
when the fans are on 100% it gives out 73Dbs of sound!
that is louder than a lawn mower.
AMD System > Intel + Nvidia ” Fail ” System
#16 written by jamesrogers93 August 6th, 2010 at 07:23
@BKsMassive does that mean that ur an ati and amd fanboy just cos u said he fails for having intel and nvidia. im no fanboy but he could overclock his cpu and it would be faster than urs and if he went sli with his gtx 480 to match ur crossfire, YOU WOULD LOSE. intel, amd, ati and nvidia all have advantages as well as disadvantages over eachother so dont blab about yours being better
#17 written by jamesrogers93 August 6th, 2010 at 07:39
im building a similar rig soon and they’re exactly the same apart form the gpu, im getting gtx 480

@jordy885
FAIL computer for $2200.
Try to beat this.
Phenom x6 1090T @ 4.4Ghz
Crossfire 5850 Toxic @ 1100Mhz
DDR3 8GB 2000Mhz RAM
HAF x Case
Custom Watercooling Loop.
Your Rig Fails.
that is what you get for being a intel and nvidia fan boy.

@jordy885 So what do you want? A medal!
#20 written by myiphoneadventure August 6th, 2010 at 09:40
@shnehal3926 Honestly, I did’t know for sure. Windows complained about the driver not responding or something of the sort and that was the only data point I had.
#21 written by shnehal3926 August 6th, 2010 at 09:50
how did you know the 5770 was the culprit…!
