I know it’s another OCZ power supply unboxing right on the heels of the last one, but that just happens to be what I have on hand at the moment. This one is for my mum’s new PC. She’s been doing a lot of work at home and her laptop can’t do it anymore, so I put together a nice little machine for her and I thought this 500W SXS would be a great addition to it

What is the difference between this one and the ModXStream pro 500W?

@godgrant123 it was good at first. when i read the OCZ RMA forums, I noticed that there were quite a few complaints about loud fans after a year so. hopefully they’ve fixed it now.

hi there
nice presentation..i have the 500watt stealthstream and its a reliable psu,,,runs my gts250 and pentium D oc ( 3.2ghz ) without any problems
however with future upgrades in mind i am replacing this with either the 600watt modstream or 700watt stealthstream…
at around £45 rrp its the best psu in its price range,,, however for another tenner you can get the 500watt corsair with a single +12v rail
good video

Unless it’s an “X2″ card, you should never run into that scenario..

I prefer function over form any day .But i have to be sure this fan is gonna run for a long long long time.Because it’ll be cooling a 650 wat psu.
#17 written by BabakMagic1 August 9th, 2010 at 11:34
@brainlicker1 Noctua fans are ammazzzzzzing…
well its ugly but… its a REALLY GOOD fan… quit and good…
#18 written by brainlicker1 August 9th, 2010 at 12:27

If you want to use a good GPU that requires more than 18A and it only has 1 power connection, what do you do?

“Opening a can of Danger!”
that was awesome
#21 written by ahgnfjie August 9th, 2010 at 13:53
@Kranbone yes it can. these modern PSUs have APFC so they can ‘deciede’ between the two voltages

The Stealth Stream series is great but the wires are so stiff it makes it hard to manage sometimes.
#23 written by toeffu August 9th, 2010 at 15:34
Uhm the website I just looked up says the 5850 needs two 6-pin connectors, but make sure that’s true before you buy it.
#24 written by Kranbone August 9th, 2010 at 15:34
Yo Linus, if I buy this PSU in america, can it work in any other country since there is no 240/120 switch??
#25 written by dzergy August 9th, 2010 at 15:53
But mine has 2 6 pin connectors..
