Silverstone Strider 1500W Fully Modular Power Supply First Look & Unboxing Linus Tech Tips

This power supply has intrigued me since I first heard about it. It’s a 1500W fully modular unit with an 80+ Silver rating. Basically by the time you actually maxxed out a PC connected to this thing, you wouldn’t be able to plug your monitor and PC speakers into the same wall outlet!!

I’ve got this power supply running my i7 930 with two 5870, overkill i know, stupidly overkill. But hey what the heck. Good thing about this PSU is its efficiency range is from 20-100% load. So if you want, you can have a low draw system and still have great efficiency (as we all know, most power-supplies tend to lose its efficiency under 50% load) – i also did an unboxing, its a bit shit house but hey, i’m just amateur wannabe dude

1500 watts is enough for just about anything expect maybe a 480 gtx quad sli.

Can’t believe I missed this vid man. I’m actually gonna get this PSU and eventually single-sleeve it. BTW, what REALLY happens if you don’t plug your computer to the wall. Cuz right now I have a Corsair TX75W powering 2x GTX 260 Black editions and I have it plugged to a power strip which pretty much includes everything in my room, printer, speakers, lights, etc.

Can you use custom sleeves for this psu? because I’m building a Corsair 800D/EVGA Classified build, and I want a Black/Red colour theme in my case, so I was thinking to switch out the standard sleeves with black coloured sleeves instead.

@loranggtx260 Yeah it should just like any APFC unit in NA it should accept a range from 100-240V AC input and adjust automatically. Non-APFC units (usually cheaper PSU’s) would have a small switch on them to switch from 120-230 range.

Linus, is this PSU worth the price? I’m wondering if I should get this one or a Enermax Revolution 85+ 1050W. So I have 450W less with the Revolution. I will have three cards. Two 5870’s and one 9800GT. When the new 6xxx cards come I will get two of the flagships from that line. With only 2 HDD’s and a AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition.
