I saw Cats live recently. The voice difference between her and Elaine Paige was astounding, and truthfully, I think I like her better than Elaine. I dunno… she was more, convincing in my eyes. Plus, her vocals were AMAZING.

At 3:47 something seems to click with Old D. That’s why I think he gives her another chance at the end. But oh, this is so sad! As she’s walking (limping, more like) off stage, Old D is all “don’t go!” and it’s just… heartbreaking!!
I went to see this at a Toby’s near where I live and there was a HUGE emphasis on Grizabella bending back and sticking out her paw. This scene and the reprise of this at the end were the biggest scenes in the production and the actress was absolutely wonderful!

O.M.G. When Deme goes to reach out to her and Bomba holds her back, and the look in their eyes… Then Munk rushes over to make sure Grizabella knows she isn’t welcome… It’s so perfect. But no, the queens weren’t jealous of Grizabella. I read somewhere that she left the tribe in curiousity of the world, and they thought she had just abandoned them. But at the end, they notice her desire to be back in the tribe, and they welcome her because of her experiences.

Elaine Paige is the ONLY actress who can do justice to this role.

So Bette Davis, almost like her character in “What Ever Happened To Baby Jane”, combined with Gloria Swanson in “Sunset Boulivard”. I love her!

my cat obsession began with this song.”Midnight.not a sound from the pavement.has the moon lost her memory.she is smiling alone.in the lamplight. the withered leaves collect at my feet. and the wind.begins to moan.every streetlamp seems to beat.a fatalistic warning.someone mutters and the streetlamp gutters.and soon it will be morning.memory.all alone in the moonlight.I can smile at the old days.I was beautiful then.I remember a time I knew what happiness was.let the memory.live again.”LOVE IT!
