I bought NEC PA241w because I needed a good and quality PC monitor for work. I am a graphic designer, and I am not satisfied with this display. So, be careful what you choose to purchase.

@sblantipodi No pal, believe me, you can’t fix backlight bleeding through the display menu.

@viktor606 @viktor606
ColorComp is a hardware function that let you correct incorrect brightness uniformity, something like the DUE on Eizo.
This electronically improves screen uniformity and compensates for differences in color/grayscale and luminance using newly designed signal processing circuitry.
Most Nec is affected by this prolem (it’s not a case if Eizo cost more).
You can activate this function from your screen menu.

Find the ColorComp word on your display menu,
than choose 1,2,3,4,5 until brightness uniformity has improved at a sufficient level.

@sblantipodi I don’t understand, what do you mean activate the ColorComp from the
OSD? How can I remove a mechanical problem from OSD?

(1) No, I didn’t make a replacement since NEC don’t have an office here in my country. I bought it online from Germany, waited a month to be delivered and later when I contacted NEC Display Solutions Europe GmbH, sending them photos and describing the problem, they said the following:

(2) Unfortunately, from your provided pictures we can’t specify whether the monitor is defective or within specs. For a detailed evaluation, the monitor must be sent to an authorized service center. Either you contact your dealer or we can offer you to send the monitor to our German service center MSC.

(3) I wondered if I should send it back, but there wasn’t a certainty they would replace it and I would have lost a lot of time, perhaps another 2 months. If I knew they would replace it, I would have sent it back right away. I need to stress that I purchased it in order to have a quality and lasting professional monitor, avoid servicing and losing time, as it is the case with cheap displays.
After some thinking, I decided not to return it. I learn I should never again purchase a NEC display.

Did you get it exchanged? I’m wondering how NEC treats these cases. I am considering buying a PA301w once it comes out.

reading and reading I founded that this is not a problem of your monitor, to solve it you should simply activate the ColorComp from your OSD

does nec changed your monitor for free? is this operation painless?
