We all know the story. We’ve watched the classic movie over and over and had the cheery song stuck in our heads for days. (You’re hearing it now, aren’t you?) We’ve cheered on the plucky red-nosed reindeer and his companion Hermey, the determined elf with dental school dreams. Even as adults, we’ve delighted in the snowy North Pole scenes, shuddered at the Abominable Snowman, and rejoiced at our unlikely hero’s happy ending. But few of us have really pondered the meaning behind this little fable: that a fulfilling life means being yourself—(symbolic) glowing red nose and all.

There’s never been a better time to march to the beat of that proverbial “different drummer” who makes you you. And if you take a lesson from the most famous reindeer of all, you can make 2009 the year you turn your unique qualities to your advantage.

While Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer was made in 1964, its theme—that embracing your uniqueness pays off—is even truer today. In a global world where businesses (and employees) face a literal world of competition, where people meet their spouses via Internet dating services, and where everyone from hot celebrities to your Uncle Fred have MySpace accounts, fearlessly being yourself is the only way to distinguish yourself from the teeming masses.

Here’s how Rudolph and his pals channeled their own “fearless fish” to save the day on that foggy Christmas Eve—and how you, allegorically at least, can do the same in 2009.

Let your nose shine bright. Once it became apparent that Rudolph wasn’t like the rest of his peers, his well-meaning father devised a way to help him “fit in.” The mud-covered nose didn’t last for long, and when his true self shone through, the other reindeer immediately excluded him from the reindeer games. On the other hand, the pretty little doe Clarice told him his red nose was “much better than that false one you were wearing.” The point? Playing an “acceptable” role never works—at least not for long.

When you aren’t authentic, it shows. Instead of fitting in, you come across as dishonest and untrustworthy. Don’t downplay your ethnic background, or try to hide the fact that you’re gay, or maybe a country music fan in an office full of hip-hop listeners. Give the world a fearless representation of who you are and let the chips fall where they may. Chances are they’ll fall in your favor.

Don’t just longingly read your dentist book. Grab your (metaphorical) drill and get to work. Hermey is an elf. At the North Pole. Of course he should make toys, right? Wrong! Hermey wanted to be a dentist instead, and in the end, he found the initiative to pursue his dream. Taking the first step toward big life changes, especially those that go against the grain can seem overwhelming. But as fearless fish we see the need for those changes and we take a flying leap instead.

We all have dreams that we have been too scared to fulfill in our lives. Perhaps it’s a new career path, or finally going back to school. Or maybe you are living in a city that just doesn’t work for you. Make this the year that you finally change those things. You will be amazed at how many other things begin to fall into place in your life once you allow yourself to pursue the things that really make you happy.

Seek out your own Hermey and make friends. On the surface it may seem like a red-nosed reindeer and an elf who wants to be a dentist may not have all that much in common. However, it was Rudolph’s misfit mantra and Hermey’s outcast status that bound them together and helped them become an unstoppable force. Likewise if you’re a “fish out of water,” you should align yourself with others who are different or special in their own ways.

It’s important to find others that you can count on as allies and friends in your quest for success. No, you don’t need to hold out for a coworker pal who is also an immigrant from China—that’s probably unrealistic. But you might join forces with, say, another maverick who is trying to lead the charge for dynamic change within the company.

Find a boss like Santa.

Through the car crash, Tiger’s silence provoked his personal life exploring. First, it is said for his mistress. Now even other two mistresses were searched out.

Â

Forget about these affairs and now back to the golf.

Â

Tiger’ll be defending champion of sorts at both the U.S. (Pebble Beach) and British (St. Andrews) Opens, having won those tournaments the last time they were played at those venues, making it seem all the more likely that he would nab his 15th and 16th major titles next summer. He still might. It would put him on the verge of surpassing Jack Nicklaus, whose 18 major professional titles remain the gold standard.

Â

But if we’ve learned anything from this year, including this bizarre peek into Woods’s Clintonian personal life, it is this: If Tiger is to top Jack, as has long been predicted, he probably won’t be blowing the doors off the old master at 120 mph like we once thought was a fait accompli.

Â

Forget Phil. What will Tiger do next? Spill everything in one big steaming heap to Barbara Walters and be done with it? Blame the Florida Highway Patrol? This is what Woods now ponders in lieu of things that might actually help him win at Augusta for the first time since 2005, or atone for his major-less 2009.

Â

Maybe he cancels the 2010 season to glue the pieces of his life back together. Maybe he potatoes-out for a while and tries to digest the excruciating last seven days. Or maybe he walks away from it all, for good. Going rogue, they call it.

Â

The fact is that Tiger’s got a lot more to worry about than winning at least five more majors, or hated Cal’s recent victory over Stanford’s favored football team — a game Woods attended. (Note to Cardinal brass: In retrospect this might not have been the right year to let Tiger flip the coin.)

Â

Woods’s actions and words will be parsed endlessly in the 24/7 news cycle, as will those of his wife, Elin, and “the other woman,” Grubbs, if that’s what she was. The late-night comedians will tee off. We’ve seen this movie before.

Â

What we haven’t seen is how it all might impact one of the most celebrated sporting careers of all time. Woods, who saw his body fail him in 2008, now appears hobbled by a failure of judgment that dates back to April 13, 2007, when Grubbs claims the two met at a nightclub. She asserts it marked the beginning of their 31-month affair, and Woods has not denied it.

Â

From a golf perspective, Woods is still young. He turns 34 later this month and, barring further trouble from his balky left knee, he should have many good years left. He knows winning like Wimpy knew hamburgers.

Â

But Woods was already showing signs of decay before the events of the last week. He can no longer dominate the way he once did because he no longer knows with much certainty where his drives will land. He no longer intimidates the way he did, and he even lost the 54-hole lead at a major for the first time in August, at the PGA Championship. (Grubbs and Tiger’s Cadillac Escalade now join Y.E. Yang on the short list of evidence that Woods is human.)

Â

And Yang isn’t the only emboldened and/or surging would-be rival. Phil Mickelson is coming off season-ending victories at the Tour Championship and HSBC Champions, both of which Woods also played. Mickelson, born again with the putter and conjuring some of his best golf yet, looks eager for 2010.

Â

What’s more, golf’s pool of young challengers is deeper than any time in recent memory. Rory McIlroy, Ryo Ishikawa, Jason Day, Anthony Kim, Rickie Fowler — so many phenoms are circling that one seems bound to rise up and take a bite out of Tiger sooner or later.

Â

And now Woods has his messy personal life to ponder.

Â

Golf is not a reaction sport; there’s copious time to think, so it’s hard to thrive when your life is ground under repair. It may be close to impossible to win a major in that condition, even for a man of such legendary focus as Woods.

Â

Remember, Woods said he tried too hard to win the 2007 Masters for the memory of his recently deceased father, Earl. It didn’t work out. Now comes an even greater challenge: performing while patching things up with Elin.

Â

What if she bails? Woods has never hid the fact that for him it’s all

Although Casillas and Cech such as the rise of younger, Buffon the head of the “world’s first keeper,” like a halo is no longer as clear and brilliant past, but who also can not ignore the gate line of the King’s ambitions . Harbourside 2006 and return to the dismal summer, with Milan, the battle from the top of Manchester’s B of the trip to hell, decades Buffon already tasted the vicissitudes of the football world, his next stop, what will Which?

Boy genius grows into the early

Time is always implied the passage of such as mercury as an instant debut Buffon has traversed 15 years. Sentimental those years shy young man, now nearly 33 years. In 1991, the 13-year-old Parma, Buffon came to the youth academy, and life experiences in just four years after embarked on a main road. November 19, 1995, Parma vs. AC Milan late dynasty, 17 years and 9 months of Buffon to complete his debut in Serie A, and finally to a 0-0 proved its strength.

In the late 90s of last century of Parma, the most in team history coincided with a period of Ambilight. Serve multiple purposes in 1999 that support the League Cup, Italian Cup team, includes Fabio Cannavaro, Lilian Thuram, Veron, Craig Berger Xiang Spirax and big stars such as a public, and when he was 21 years old Buffon is sit tight in the main position, in order to attract highly praised the excellent play waves. The success of the club to Buffon in the national team so smooth, in October 1997 to complete his national team debut, just two years to replace Pagliuca become the first country of Italy – to know the history of Italy known as the Best goalkeeper Zoff, until 26 years old the first time play for the country.

Difficult to recover the golden age

June 17, 2001, Rome, Olympic Stadium, when the seeding of Parma 1-3 in the game behind the first 88 minutes in Rome, the red wolf fans have been repressed for 18 years have lost the passion, rushed out of many obstacles course, the players had a clean jersey Pa. Parma goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon was as the national team because of his popular star of the place, too, “suffer” such a treatment.

Witnessed the ecstasy of others, the 23-year-old Gianluigi Buffon and finally decided to start pursuing their own glory. Rule the roost for the summer in Rome, the capital of Buffon to the team come together and almost, but eventually the old Sensi made the most of his life may be the wrong decision – to give up the acquisition of Peilizuoli Buffon turned to Atlanta. A month later, Juventus goalkeeper to a world record 45 million U.S. dollars worth to Buffon strokes recorded, the transfer of this sensational proof of the Serie A, Buffon was the first firm can not shake the keeper position.

From 2001 to 2006, Buffon Juventus spent in the most glittering career five years time. Juve coach Marcello Lippi when he had lamented that “a team with Buffon, each season is equivalent to 10 to 15 more points,” while in reality Buffon also demonstrated with real action Silver Fox said is true. In effect the first five seasons, Juventus, Buffon travel with the team to get four league titles, are also being harvested in 2002 and 2003 Italian Super Cup. In the 2002-03 season’s Champions League, Juventus and Buffon’s way in the finals, under guard, eventually losing to Milan in a penalty shoot only the runner-up. Gianluigi Buffon at the zenith of the Serie A for six consecutive years was named the best goalkeeper, the legendary achievements through the ages that he was the one and only.

Blue Blue Glory of Sadness

Looking back on 13 years of Buffon’s international career, it seems far more than the night light. 1998 World Cup, Buffon the bench probation, saw the Azzurri in the 1 / 4 final loss to France was eliminated on penalties. Two years later when Buffon firmly secured when starting the main force, but in the European Cup the week before the arrival of hand injuries, the opportunity to give the achievements of the legendary late bloomer Toldo. Summer of 2002, South Korea and Japan is not the same for Buffon memories for the group stages was Borgetti headed to his humiliation, 1 / 8 finals lore has been head Ahn Jung Hwan Kim, in the

Especially students should possess sharp memory as it subsists throughout their student life. Even though others have the same sharp memories at the tender age but as they become older, they start losing a major part of this memory So it is the duty of the teachers to correct them at this juncture. The usual causes for such loss of memory are

1. Family circumstances.

2. Lack of good training by parents, guardians or teachers.

3. Improper medical care.

If a student receives good nutrition and medical care, also facilities

definitely there is every chance that his memory will develop along

normal lines.

There are students who have to work hard also. I have seen many

students working in a factory or a hotel and studying during the rest

period. Their restlessness is a deterrent to their memory.

There may be lack of confidence due to fear and some other

complex. Whoever it may be, teacher or guardian cannot force him

to remember something whith his mind or brain refuses to take in.

Memory exercises helps a student to improve memory or develop

memory. Link method is certainly helpful. Abbreviation

method and story method are appealing. Addition and story

association is another useful method; say for example if a student has

to remember the years 1492 and 1498 which denote the events ‘columbus

discovered America ‘ and Vasco da Gama reached cape of Good Hope

respectively, put the English alphabets for there two years A is 1 B is

2, C is 3 and so on.

Therefore 1492 becomes ADIB and 1498 is ADIH

Here ADIB has B and Columbus has B

So ADIB goes with Columbus or 1492 is for Columbus and the other is for

Vascoda Gama. In this fashion they are easily remembered.

While remembering numbers students has to invent his own methods and

remember three different sections 33, 00 and 918.

Here he can easily remember a33 as they make out that 3 X 3 = 9 and 3 X

6 = 18 writing 918. Then it will be easy for him to remember the sequence 918.

Peculiar numbers can be easily remembered

Eg : 13 26 39 Here the first section is 13 second section is 13 X 2 = 26 and the third 13 X 3 = 39.

There are thus various ways of remembering a number and each person has

to find out his own suitable way.

Students have a good lot to read. They have to read text books. They have to understand a lot while they read. The college students have to remember much of what they read. A student’s real possession is his memory.

Memory in reading

Reading involves both fast reading and slow reading. Students, as they have to face examinations they have to practice both readings. However, fast reading is not the best way to prepare for an examination. Reading involves understanding. Reading for a student is not for recreation or enjoyment. The mind has to digest what is read. Any one who is reading something on the subject of his choice will find a harmony between reading and understanding. An efficient reader or a good reader, in case of students, is he who has mastered the art of concentration.

There are four ways through which reading speedily and understanding

quickly is made possible. They are ( 1 ) attention ( 2 ) interest

( 3 ) points and ( 4 ) pictures.

Concentration breeds attention. Practice reading for sometime everyday. There may be some noise or other external phenomena. This has to be overcome by having a strong and attentive mind. Also one has to practise concentration even in solitude. It is always recommend learning by understanding, not by rote. First read the book slowly. Always keep a pencil and dictionary handy. While you read constantly ask the questions what, why, when, where, who, how etc. underline the important points, facts and figures. This carefully. Naturally mind takes an account of it and you can easily remember.

Make notes in your own words. Reproduce your notes from memory later. While you try to reproduce from memory your mind will pay extra attention next time to the subject which you had forgotten. The notes prepared shall be as less as possible. Again write the points forgotten first time. This process takes you about five days. Next day pay attention to the important questions. But reproduce your notes for the questions from the memory alone.Read the book also which enables you to answer better. Revision of the book with the help of your notes is essential. In the examination hall students have to select the questions they know best. Let them proceed to answer the first question accordingly. Let the mind be given the task of preparing answer to the first ! This process is to be continued. Like speed reading of a book, speed read each answer to check for mistakes and additional information which memory bring afresh.

You might have a face that is anti-wrinkle despite being 60 years old, but your memory capacity will definitely be eaten up as you continue to age. Memory loss in old age cannot be stopped for sure, but it can definitely be slowed down. There are plenty of supplements out there but unfortunately, none of them is The Miracle Pill. Hence, the only way to give your memory a boost is to learn some of the memory enhancement techniques that can really change your life.

When using the memory enhancement techniques, the main idea is to make full use of our brain and memory so as to keep us thinking and “moving” at all times. Most of the memory techniques available here are easy to follow, as such; you would definitely not have to worry about going to the extreme ends of the spectrum.

Firstly, we must learn some of the ways whereby our memory power can be built up. Remembering information such as addresses, numbers and names will help to ensure that our memory is being worked out. This is also a form of memory exercise that allows you to exercise your brain to take and store in memory. Alternatively, playing mind-boggling games and puzzles will help out in developing your memory power.

Another technique to improve your memory is to learn the tricks of storing memory. This would refer to how different people are able to store in memory, within just a short period of time or so called ‘Photographic Memory’. The technique used to develop this photographic memory varies from people to people. But the more common one is to have a mental scenario of the things that you are supposed to remember. For example, when you are given a list of items for grocery shopping, simply use the words from the list to form a mental scenario. Example, if you are given a list of: cat, skirt and banana, try to create an image whereby there is a cat wearing a skirt trying to eat a banana. If there are plenty more items to add to the list, then just continue to link these items to the initial image. Lastly, just remember to link the last item back to the first item. Do explore newer methods of remember long twinning information.

Let us not forget that the most common method is the ability to keep up with a healthy diet at all times. Despite being relatively easy to do, many have ignored this and choose to lead the unhealthy and unbalanced diet, which consists of chips, chips and more chips! A healthy diet helps with the circulation in the body and as such the brain is able to benefit from this too. Foods like broccoli, spinach and blueberries are definitely encouraged. At the same time, remember to include a few simple exercises as part of the healthy routine. Believe it or not, simple exercises can help to rejuvenate the mind and soul. This will allow you to free yourself and loosen up the tensed muscle that might have accumulated whilst you were busy running around in rage in the office.

These memory improvement techniques do not cost you a single penny. However, you will definitely have to put in some discipline and effort to make sure that you are able to keep up with every itsy bitsy detail. Nothing can beat these free and easy methods!

Life runs on electricity. The more developed country the more it runs on electricity. Power cuts can simply leave you paralyzed at times. The power trips and sheddings are unavoidable but UPS and generators act as major power backups at these faulty times. Uninterruptible Power Supplies or (UPS) as it is more popularly called is very useful both in domestic and industrial purposes. The Uninterruptible Power Supplies in UK are the major reliability factor in case of power trips and cuts in the country. In the UK you can see Uninterruptible Power Supplies just everywhere starting from homes to offices to industrial plants to hospitals. The Uninterruptible Power Supplies used in the UK range from 200VA to 4.8mVA. They are often backup with generators but according to requirements.

More about Uninterruptible Power Supplies of the UK

Uninterruptible Power Supplies have a battery pack and an input and output phase. The battery forms DC and gets converted to AC when entering the appliance, through which the appliance works. The Uninterruptible Power Supplies can run more than one device at a time and a variety of devices. But then you have to choose the Uninterruptible Power Supplies or (UPS) according to the output watt you need. There is one or more output phase in the UPS through which you can connect your devices.

Working of the Uninterruptible Power Supplies

There are two modes of working of the Uninterruptible Power Supplies. One is Offline Working. In it the Uninterruptible Power Supplies is connected to the device and once the UPS detects power trip from the main current supply it gets started immediately. Here the device gets off if there is no automatic start mode. Being comparatively cheap it is more preferable at homes. But when you are to install the Uninterruptible Power Supplies in places where a momentary power cut off can lead to disasters like in IT companies. You should go in for the Online Uninterruptible Power Supplies where the UPS is connected directly to the circuit of the device. Here the UPS runs continuously but only when the current is off. The current is produced by the battery and in the case of presence of supply of power; the battery keeps on charging automatically. This is best applicable when you need complete power supply for the appliances. To know more about uninterrupted power supplies you need to surf the net for more information.

Buying life insurance [...]

The American Cancer Society estimates doctors will diagnose over 1.4 million new cases of cancer in the U.S. in 2007, with more than 559,650 cancer-related deaths. If you are among the majority of cancer patients and survive for at least five years following your diagnosis, you may face another fight: buying life insurance.

Buying life insurance for cancer patients is challenging, but not necessarily impossible. Your chances for securing a policy depend greatly on the type, stage and grade of the cancer, and even on the treatment plan. There is a relationship between the rate you’ll receive and the curability of your cancer. Certain types of skin cancer, for example, are considered very low risk by life insurance companies and a skin cancer history may not even impact premiums.

Applicants with common and treatable forms of breast and prostate cancer may be able to get a “standard” rating under ideal circumstances. But patients with a history of leukemia or colon cancer may fall into a “substandard” or “high substandard” rating at best, or receive declines. Anyone with cancer that has metastasized likely won’t be able to obtain a policy.

Dr. Charles Levy, senior vice president and chief medical director of AIG American General Domestic Life Insurance Cos., says, “We’re better and better able to differentiate the risks of individual cancers.” Life insurers like AIG American General have sophisticated tables to determine premiums, where they can factor in cancer types and treatments. The end result is better premiums because applicants aren’t lumped together as an “average.”

Most insurers will not offer a policy to someone who is still undergoing treatment for cancer. Depending on your type of cancer, the life insurer may also want to add a surcharge, also called a temporary flat extra. For example, AIG American General sometimes charges temporary flat extras for two to five years, depending on the applicant’s cancer and treatment. The good news is that although these extra premiums can be expensive, they will automatically disappear after a set period of time.

Cancer insurance risk specialists

While a dedicated life insurance agent will search cancer insurance companies to find insurers that will sell you a life insurance policy, in some cases you may be better off seeking out a broker who specializes in finding life insurance for people who have a history of cancer.

These brokers will know the specific questions underwriters will want answered when considering your application. Many brokers have developed relationships with several insurers, so they know which companies offer the best-priced life insurance policies for cancer survivors. Some brokers have experts who specialize in gathering your medical records and organizing them.

By directing your application to life insurers that will view your application most favorably, these brokers will help you find the most accurate price quotes and the lowest premiums for life insurance. Always check the financial strength of the insurer before you buy any policy and be sure that the agent or broker you choose is licensed in your state.

Life insurance strategies for cancer survivors

If you are a healthy cancer survivor, life insurance is even more feasible. There are things you can do to ensure you’re getting the best premium offers possible for your situation.

1. Gather all possible medical records before you apply, from the first pathology report to medical records to treatment records. That ensures medical underwriters have the most complete picture of you, your health, and your cancer history. Having all those records before you apply for cancer insurance will reduce delays in your application process, because your life insurer is going to request them and will wait for them. The information you provide can garner you better premiums in the end: The less life insurer underwriters knows about you, the more likely they are to have to assume you are the highest risk and offer you high premiums accordingly. According to Levy, “If it’s fuzzy, we’re more likely to err on the side of conservatism.”

2. Make sure you have complied with your doctor’s treatment plans. For example, says Levy, if your doctor asked to see you back in one year and you haven’t been back in four years, get to your doctor for your check-up before you apply for life insurance. Your life insurer is not going to offer you a policy without before seeing the results of that check-up. Similarly, if you’ve had breast cancer and you’re due for a mammogram in December and you apply for cancer insurance in October, your life insurer will likely wait for the results of your next mammogram.

3. Get prices from several companies. Policy costs can vary a great deal among companies.

4. See if you can get group life insurance through a professional, fraternal, membership, or political organization to which you belong.

5. Consider a “graded” policy (one with limited benefits) if you cannot get full death benefits. In the first few years of a graded policy, the company pays only the premiums and part of the face value if the insured person dies of a condition, such as cancer, that existed before the policy took effect.
