Money Lessons from Usain Bolt
Posted by Parkzone Corsair in Memory on November 30th, 2010
As 100m sprinter Usain Bolt propelled his way through the finish line in an astonishing world-record time of 9.58 seconds, Jamaica and the rest of the world celebrated his magnificent race. At the 2009 Berlin World Athletics Championships, Bolt definitely cemented his place in history as a legendary sports hero.
As I reflected on his amazing career, I realised that Bolt is more than an inspiration to aspiring athletes; he is also an example of what it takes to be successful with money. Here are some of the lessons that Bolt can teach us about our finances:
Examine What You’re Doing Wrong
My earliest memory of Bolt’s running was of a youngster who seemed to be struggling as he raced. Biting on his chain with a pained grimace on his face, he was a far cry from the smooth sprinting machine that he is today. Many of us find the financial race similarly difficult – despite our best efforts, it seems that we don’t have what it takes to win.
To correct improper techniques in sports, you first have to figure out what you are doing wrong. It’s the same process with money – to fix your finances, you first have to get honest about your errors. Use a budget planner to really examine how you are spending your money; if you’re in debt, write down all your loans to see the total picture. The forms to help you with this self-examination are available at www.financiallysmartonline.com.
Your budget planner will show you if you are spending too much on non-essentials, or if you really are not earning enough for your basic needs. The debt tracker will point out if you have been depending on credit to finance your lifestyle, and if you have borrowed more than you can afford to repay.
Get Professional Advice
Once you have a clearer picture of your money mistakes, you need to figure out how to fix them. Bolt’s fortunes turned around when he worked with his coach to master new techniques that brought him the desired success. Similarly, you need to get help from professional financial advisors who can show you the right way forward.
There are various ways to learn the right money habits – you can go to public seminars put on by financial institutions; buy books by money experts; read newspaper and Internet articles; listen to CDs and radio programmes; and watch television shows or DVDs about personal finance.
Just as Bolt discovered, individual coaching can make a big difference. Check with your financial institution to see if they offer one-on-one advisory services, and find a representative who can work with you to create a financial plan of action.
Practise Patiently And Persistently
Getting the right coaching is important, but that’s not enough to create a world champion. Bolt understood that his techniques wouldn’t change overnight; he had to put in hours of determined practice, and patiently kept on persisting until they became ingrained habits.
So it is with becoming successful with money. We have to persistently apply the lessons we learn – budgeting to live within our means, resisting the temptation to overspend, saving consistently, planning for long-term goals, using debt to our advantage, and making wise investment choices – and being patient with ourselves until they become habitual actions.
Believe That You Can Achieve
Another quality that contributes to Bolt’s current success is his unshakable confidence in his abilities. Once he corrected his techniques and properly prepared himself, Bolt knew that he could win any race. Although it’s important for his body to be completely fit, Bolt recognises that the right mental state is the first key to success.
I have seen many people who remain in financial difficulties, not because they don’t know what to do, but because they don’t believe that they can really achieve a better life. If you doubt yourself, it might be helpful to read books such as The Power of Positive Thinking and You Can If You Think You Can by Norman Vincent Peale, and Brian Tracy’s Maximum Achievement.
Keep Focused On Your Goals
Like a blinkered racehorse, Bolt always keeps the finish line in focus once the
Day Trading Software Along With The Perks Of Technology
Posted by Parkzone Corsair in Memory on November 26th, 2010
Long before, where only geeky people and those involved with a steady stream of research are slumped before their computers, businesses had to make do with the normal method when it comes to keeping track with the everyday transactions. This may require a lot of time as well as manpower simply because all you might have are a pen and paper, and you have to jot down every little thing by memory and by hand. It might be that the tediousness might compromise the precision, yet we cannot tell for certain. Thus, we have technology to thank for since it has given us means to switch from hand-operated to electronic mode to make work more manageable and structured. These days, there is even day trading software crafted for all those involved in the stock market.
But, before managing one, exactly how will you come to be a trader of this job? You can start with a great business plan to back up your venture’s path. This way, you may follow an outline and be organized with the things which you have to do in the process. You may also manage your finances with a plan to be able to keep a record of where and the way your money is circulating for better profit shares. In addition, investing on equipments with top quality is extremely important, but don’t spend excessively on them in order to balance off your finances. If your system fails, do not wait for things to get more serious and instead, seek for professional help to get back the date that were temporarily lost. By then, you may bounce back instantly and your day trading software is ready for use once again.
Furthermore, know exactly where you wish to belong to. It’s just like figuring out what kind of engineer you would like to be, regardless of whether a chemical or electrical engineering course can do you good. The exact same principle can be applied simply because what will you need to do with your know-how and skills over a field that has an entirely different set of rules and learning? That could be a waste of talent, by itself. Furthermore, as soon as you discover the industry that’s right for you, you always have the option to follow trends, but at the same time, just like what mainstream does to overused tracks, also learn to take a step backwards and disregard overbought or perhaps oversold products.
In the mean time, you must also manage your finances constantly by computing each and every little financial transaction with detail and exactness. A great deal of expenses are done as soon as stocks are bought thus you need to keep an eye on these to make sure that no income is lost.
Aside from all these technical and business-inclined talks with regards to the stock industry and day trading software, you should also pay attention to psychological attachments. Have you been being fulfilled in this occupation? Have you been excelling at the pace which you envisioned? Can you carry on with the finances? In case you say yes to all this, then good for you because you are turning into great at your discipline. Thus have no fear, simply because with discipline, you are going to be able to handle the roughest conditions and still turn out the champion.
Lcd Touch Screen Monitors: Are They Worth The Money?
Posted by Parkzone Corsair in computer on August 13th, 2010
We’ve all seen LCD touch screens at work around us. Anyone that’s ever used their credit or debit card to make a purchase at the grocery store has to swipe their card through a reader and then use a pen to select and sign the signature line on a touch screen. Versions that are more sophisticated can be found in Photo Centers that allow consumers to print their own pictures or create Christmas cards from disks or memory cards found in your local Longs or Target stores. However, the LCD touch screen is beginning to make inroads into other areas, as well.
One of the first companies consumers think of when the “touch screen” is mentioned is Apple. Their familiar items such as the apple ipod touch and the apple iphone use a touch screen to allow the user to navigate without the need for buttons or trackballs. This is not the limit of their uses, though. The home computer market is now seeing a number of computers available with LCD touch screen functionality.
How does an LCD touch screen work? In essence, it is no different than using a mouse or the touch pad on your laptop, though touching your monitor screen may seem counterintuitive to many consumers (after all, don’t we go to great lengths to keep our fingerprints off them?). Touch screen monitors essentially look like regular lcd monitors but are equipped with additional features. Basically, a touch screen is actually just another piece of hardware. A thin film of touch sensitive lamination (clear) is placed over the computer monitor; this is then wired into the computer. The pressure from your finger is transformed into an electric signal, which is then sent to the CPU.
There are two main types of touch screen monitors on the market today: add on systems and built in systems. Built in systems come ready to use in the box, just plug them in and go; though you will most likely need to install the software drivers first, if your system was not designed to use a touch screen. Add on systems are installed by the consumer over their existing computer monitor and then plugged into an accessory outlet on the computer. Once again, device drivers are required to tell the computer how to recognize the signals.
Touch screen monitors like the ipod touch and iphone will be affordable for the average consumer while POS (point of sale) touch screen monitors will be geared more towards businesses. And how can we forget to mention the glamorous touch screen displays as seen on CNN and ESPN? Yes, those are very large touch screen monitors. I’m sure you saw one in use during this year’s election when CNN used it to track the Democratic and Republican States. These gigantic displays just mentioned will only be affordable, and needed, by a few.
There are a number of popular manufacturers creating these devices today. Some of the most popular are Planar, GVision, Megavision, NEC and HP. Do your research, regardless of the brand that you choose, though. User forums and reviews can give you the information you need to make a good purchase in a device that will perform well for years to come. If you are a small business to medium sized business, make sure you check for discounts.
